Meet Sydney, a vibrant 78-year-old, and his close friend, Ildelfonso, who is 69 years young. Their story is a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the unwavering spirit of compassion.

Watching the news one day, Sydney (age 78) learned about the shortage of carers. This inspired him to take action.

Having experience in looking after family and friends with disabilities, Sydney believes that caregiving is his calling and finds fulfillment in contributing to the well-being of those who need it most.

His friend, Ildefonso (age 69), whom he met while doing a computer course, was also inspired to improve his skills and personal growth to better assist those in need.

These two friends are dedicated students, currently completing their Certificate III in Individual Support at MAX Solutions (RTO: 0667). But for Sydney and Idelfonso, this is just the beginning.

Retirement isn’t on the horizon for them. They envisage a future where they continue working and volunteering in the Aged Care sector, community and providing essential assistance to NDIS clients.

Their commitment doesn’t end in the classroom. Sydney and Idelfonso regularly meet up at the local library to study together, supporting each other as they work diligently towards their qualifications.

This story serves as a powerful reminder that compassion doesn’t come with an expiration date. Sydney and Ildelfonso are living proof that the desire to make a positive impact doesn’t diminish with age. They’re not slowing down anytime soon, and their journey is an inspiration to us all.
