Compass Group has been recognised for its commitment to diversity and inclusion, recently being presented with the MAX Employer of the Year Award (large business) for 2022-2023.

The award acknowledges Compass Group’s dedication to flexible recruitment processes and respect for the value of each individual and what they can bring to the Compass Group team.

The team are consistently open to modifying existing roles, creating new roles, and negotiating work hours to give MAX customers every chance of success.

They’re committed to embedding the concept of in-work-support into the recruitment process and welcome high-touch post-placement support whenever it is required. MAX team members are welcome on sites to provide that support and Compass Group’s own Compass Care team strengthen that in-work support from within.

This kind of flexibility opens up opportunity for our customers living with disability and those experiencing a range of other challenges that might otherwise see them excluded during a hiring process.

It has meant that 157 MAX customers were given the opportunity to work with the supportive employer during 2022.

The team at Compass are committed to supporting employees to progress in their careers and many of our customers are enjoying career advancement thanks to the opportunities provided by Compass.

Vanessa Martin, General Manager, Diversity and Inclusion, Compass Group Australia accepted the award on behalf of Compass Group.

"With over 13,000 employees and 700 operational sites, multiple different business sectors, it does give us the opportunity to really step forward and work collaboratively with organisations like MAX to really make a difference in people's lives and give them that dignity they need to be a contributing piece to society,” said Vanessa.

“This [award] means a huge amount to everybody involved in our business and we really pride ourselves on diversity and inclusion being a DNA piece in our business. We really do appreciate the acknowledgment and we do love the support ongoing – it is a tried and tested relationship. Thank you,” she said.

Upon presenting the award, MAX Country Manager Darren Hooper congratulated Compass Group Australia.

“This award showcases your drive for continual improvement and advancement in the diversity space. I congratulate you on a fantastic effort – a worthy winner,” he said.
