MAX is privileged to have been shortlisted with employer partner Rabobank for NESA’s prestigious Innovation in Disability Employment Award.

The annual Award recognises businesses that innovate to support employment opportunities for people with disability.

Rabobank, one of the world’s largest rural lenders, last year recruited nine MAX customers with disability into its high performing, Know Your Client team.

The bank was shortlisted by NESA for creating a highly innovative process of targeting, interviewing, recruiting and onboarding individuals with disability as part of its successful Inclusion and Belonging Strategy.

MAX Managing Director, Deborah Homewood, said: “Rabobank is the definition of a disability confident employer.

“It intuitively understands the enormous capabilities of Australians with disability and has created a process of recruitment and retention that is genuinely world leading.

“It’s entirely possible the Rabobank model will become a blueprint for successful disability recruitment in the years to come, so we’re delighted to see NESA recognise its work.”

The Rabobank and MAX partnership innovated across a number of key areas, including:

  • Targeted recruitment – Rabobank has worked with specialist organisations like MAX and the Australian Network on Disability (AND) to find talented candidates with disability. It has also promoted flexible working options to appeal to a wider range of candidates.
  •
  • Interviews – to prepare candidates for interview, Rabobank and MAX worked to provide applicants with access to pre-interview workplace tours, information sessions and case study assessments.
  •
  • Workplace adjustments and support – support included MAX-led prepare for employment sessions, as well as individualised post-placement support from a dedicated MAX consultant and psychological counselling services.
  •

The winner of this year’s NESA awards are due to be announced on 8th June.
