    National Skills Week 2021

National Skills Week 2021 provides an opportunity to spread the word about the value of vocational education and that “learning by doing is as important as academic learning.”

We’re delighted to be part of the vocational education journey for many Australians.

Through our RTO (0667) we’re helping to springboard students into new careers. Last year we trained nearly 6000 students.

    [What are they doing now?]

Our range of Cert II and Cert III vocational courses are targeted at supporting students into careers that are in high demand.

The National Skills Commission’s Skills Priority List released in June 2021 ranks hundreds of occupations according to their expected future demand. Among those that are expected to have strong demand into the future are disability and aged care, a range of allied health professions, hospitality, along with a multitude of business-related occupations*.

    [Which industries are in demand?]

    Recent graduate testimonies

    [What are they doing now?].

Donna, CHC33015 - Certificate III Individual Support (Disability), Gympie (QLD)

I recently studied the Certificate III in Individual Support specialising in disability. I completed the 12-month course in six months. Four months into the course I gained employment in this field. I am loving my new role. No two days are the same. I love making a difference in my clients lives and love building rapport with them. It’s so lovely to see their faces light up when you arrive. The only regret is I wish I had done this 10 years ago.

After a career in finance, Donna decided to make a change and look for a career helping people with disability. Donna gained employment as a disability carer even finishing her course.

Maria, BSB30120 – Certificate III in Business, Kilkenny (SA)

Dear Darren, it is a good chance to say how much I have learnt from this course. There are lots of topics that I found very useful like the WHS legislation.

But the most important thing for me is knowing that being from a different cultural background can benefit the workplace. I used to feel that being from a different cultural background is one of my weakness, but now I learnt that it can be one of my strengths.

Also, I want to thank you Darren – you are very supportive. You are very flexible sometimes the only available time for me to do role play is during the weekend and you always do your best to be available. I appreciate your effort, Darren. It gives me the feeling that you understand my situation (studying with the little ones) it makes this study much easier for me. The follow up calls always motivate me to find the time and study.

Maria has graduated and gained employment in an administration role.

Joanna, CHC33015 – Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing), Wollongong (NSW)

Toni, thank you for all your help and support during my study. I found that the trainers from MAX Solutions where very knowledgeable, passionate, and supportive. And that the MAX Solutions [online] learning platform - CANVAS was easy to understand and use.

After graduating Johanna was employed as a carer in the aged care sector.

Teija, BSB30120 – Certificate III in Business, Hervey Bay (QLD)

I have faced many hurdles since starting my course, from becoming homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic, to being frequently unwell and at times hospitalised. I have had support from my trainers the whole time, both with my course and with my home life. I don't think I would have been able to complete this course without that support, and I can say without a doubt that I would not have the job I have today without the help from the team at MAX. Since starting my course, I have become a medical receptionist and am loving it.

After graduating, Teija was offered employment as a medical receptionist and has since been promoted.
