Celine triumphs with Try, Test and Learn (TTL) program

After three years unemployed, 20 year old Celine is optimistic that her recently completed Certificate III in Hospitality will present new opportunities.
Celine completed her certificate through the Try, Test and Learn (TTL) program. TTL is currently being piloted in the Fraser Coast region by MAX Employment in partnership with Mission Australia and Department of Social Services.
The program provides support to 17-24 year old’s to improve engagement, attendance and completion of Vocational Education and Training (VET).
MAX Employment Regional Manager Aaron Papas said the youth unemployment rates in the area are high.
“The Fraser Coast youth unemployment rate of about 24 percent makes it the perfect place for this pilot program.”
MAX Employment case worker Teri Willis provided Celine advice and guidance, as well as assistance in writing her resume.
“It has just made the whole process of studying a lot smoother,” Celine said.
“Teri also helped me organise a work placement.”
After graduating, Celine continues to keep in contact with Teri who is helping her apply for jobs.
Since the launch of TTL three months ago, the program has helped eight locals gain jobs.
