How to apply for the SEE program

To find out if you are able to enrol in the SEE program, speak to your Workforce Australia provider, Centrelink or call us to discuss your eligibility.

Firstly, they will check whether you are eligible. For example, if you are:

  • 15 years and above and looking for full time work
  • Registered as a jobseeker
  • Not experiencing challenges that prevent you attending classes
  • An Australian citizen, permanent resident or temporary visa holder currently with working rights in Australia

If you are eligible, your Workforce Australia provider or Centrelink will make a referral for you - or we will commence your enrolment. Talk to them about whether part-time or full-time study best suits you.

Tell us about you

When you are referred to MAX by your Workforce Australia or DES provider, ParentsNext provider, Transition to Work provider, or Centrelink, they will help you make an appointment with us.

At your first appointment with us, we will interview you to see what you want to learn in the program. We will also check how we can help you with your language, literacy or numeracy.

We will make a training plan for how we can help you achieve your goals. If you have any concerns about getting to and from your class, let us know so we can help.

What you will learn

In SEE program classes, you will improve your English language, literacy or numeracy skills so you can move into further study or work.

You will learn things like how to write job applications, understand job advertisements and ways to impress in a job interview.

You will also learn how to improve your listening and speaking skills, and various computer skills to help you in work.

Participate in learning activities

Learning in the SEE program should be inspirational and interactive. It should also help you achieve your real life goals.

While much of the course will take place in a classroom environment, you may also participate in learning activities outside the classroom. For example, visits to places in your local community such as:

  • Local employers
  • The library
  • Supermarkets and local high street shops.

These outings are designed to make the classes interesting and relevant to your everyday life.

Your next steps

After finishing the SEE program, your next steps may involve study towards a qualification or vocational training. Or, you might be ready for some work experience and ultimately employment.

With your improved English language, literacy and numeracy skills, you are well on your way to achieving your goals.
