One of the best places to find job advertisements is the internet.

What job search engines you should use

While there are many different sites where you can find potential jobs, here is a list of five that may help narrow down where to start.

    MAXConnect

This service, exclusive to MAX customers, allows you to search and match to jobs across Australia in different industries. The jobs on MAXConnect don’t appear on any other job search website as they have been negotiated through our team of employer partners. The site includes a My Job Fit questionnaire to understand more about you, the types of work you like doing and anything that might prevent you from working in particular jobs or industries.

Through MAX Connect you can also use Microsoft Word to create, edit or update your resume.

    Indeed

Indeed consolidates job listings from hundreds of other job boards, company websites and local newspapers, making it a great central source for finding jobs. On this site you can upload your resume, which will allow potential employers to search for your online profile. Indeed also has one of the largest pool of candidates, making it a favourite to many employers.

    LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one of the largest job search and networking sites in the world. This site allows you to build an online version of your resume and use it to apply to some jobs with just one click. You can also search for jobs using a number of filters, such as location, industry, job function or experience level. LinkedIn can sometimes seem more like a social networking site where you can learn more about industries and companies by joining LinkedIn groups, participating in conversations and following companies you find interesting and relevant to your job search.

    Australian JobSearch

Australian JobSearch is another site for government jobs. Here you can search for many jobs ranging from full-time to part-time positions, as well as traineeships and apprenticeships. The site also has information on how to find local training and other employment services programs.

    Glassdoor

Glassdoor is a not only a great place to look for jobs, but also allows you to see reviews of companies made by past or current employees. Glassdoor promotes itself by giving job seekers insight into a company’s working conditions, interview process, salaries and benefits. This will help you determine if you want to apply to certain companies based on their reviews.

While this is just a small list of places to start looking for jobs, there are plenty more job searching sites out there. And don’t be afraid to use multiple sites. The more places you look, the more likely you will find the perfect job for you!
