Sean Gordon joins MAX Solutions Advisory Board

Prominent Indigenous Business leader and advocate Sean Gordon has recently been appointed as a new member of the MAX Solutions Advisory Board

Mr Gordon will work with MAX Solutions as a member of the Advisory Board with a particular focus on Indigenous development, including improving social, cultural and economic outcomes for Indigenous Australians through the services MAX offer.

MAX Solutions Managing Director, Deborah Homewood, said MAX is in a fortunate position of being able to create positive change for Indigenous Australians.

“Currently, five percent of MAX staff identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and we work with more than 12,000 Indigenous Australians in our employment and support programs across Australia.

“The opportunity to impact closing the gap employment targets is one we take extremely seriously.

“Every time we help an Indigenous person into a job, every time we go the extra mile to work through their complex barriers to employment, we close the gap a little bit.

“Sean Gordon is a highly regarded Indigenous leader and businessman who has a long history of working to improve the lives of Indigenous people and communities across Australia. I look forward to utilising his expertise to recognise the strength of Indigenous Australians and better service the needs of our Indigenous customers and staff,” said Ms Homewood.

A proud Barkingji and Wangkumara man, Mr Gordon is deeply connected to the Indigenous community and has served on numerous boards and Advisory Groups and is one of the Empowered Communities leaders.

Mr Gordon’s background is in the employment education and training sector. He recently established his own consultancy and building company, Gidgee Group, after honing his skills as the Chief Executive Officer of Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council on the NSW Central Coast for nine years.

Mr Gordon said he was excited to be a new member of the MAX Solutions Advisory Board with the ability to make a substantial impact at the community level.

“I’ve seen over many years the work that MAX has done in the Indigenous affairs space,” Mr Gordon said.

“I’ll be looking at how I can add value to the work MAX is already undertaking. I hope to achieve improved outcomes for Indigenous people, so that staff are supported and have opportunities to progress in the organisation, and customers have access to good quality services and programs that can transition them into meaningful and sustainable employment."

“MAX clearly understands the opportunities available and acknowledges there is more that we all can do to ensure that every person has every chance.”

Mr Gordon will join domestic violence campaigner, 2015 Australian of the Year and 2019 Queen’s Birthday honour recipient, Rosie Batty as a key advisor to MAX Solutions.
