    Centre for Women & Co

MAX Employment Regional Manager Jaime Cameron and General Manager Samantha Brown with The Centre for Women & Co Centre Manager Amanda Ritter and Receptionist Chante Abraham.

MAX Employment assisted 1,095 people find work and raised $2,000 for The Centre for Women & Co, a specialist Domestic Violence & Women’s Wellbeing Service in South East Brisbane through the 2018 MAX Employment Christmas Campaign.

The 2018 campaign put the power back into the hands of the community with ‘Your Community. Your Choice.’ Every MAX customer that found work or an interview during the 12 week campaign were able to select one of two charity’s to donate to, and place a token in their chosen charity’s display box. At the end of the campaign, the charity with the most amount of tokens received a $2,000 donation and the runner up received $1,000.The South East Brisbane region pledged to donate to both The Centre for Women & Co and Headspace.

Queensland General Manager Sam Brown said it was great for the community to be involved in the 2018 Campaign.

“Our local community had their say in where they wanted their money to go, right across the Redlands and South East Brisbane. The Centre for Women had so many tokens in their box at the end of the campaign, really highlighting the importance of their service.”

Logan Women’s and WAVSS joined forces to create The Centre for Women & Co, ensuring a brighter, healthier and safer future for women and their families across the Logan and Redlands regions. With three individual sites across Logan and the Redlands region and over 45 passionate staff, The Centre for Women deliver high quality continuative care to those most in need.

The Centre for Women Centre Manager Amanda Ritter said the donation, and the awareness raised by the campaign, will provide much needed assistance to the women.

“Because of the MAX Christmas Campaign, more people are aware of our services now, which we are very appreciative of. Thousands of women come through our doors each year and many of them are in need of financial support.

We provide links to safe accommodation and counselling services, as well as change locks, install security screens and sweep cars and houses for trackers and cameras. It’s very expensive to conduct the sweeps, but without them you’d never know you were being tracked.”

The Centre for Women is currently undergoing renovation and expansion, with fresh paint and new offices being built for staff.

“We’re extending for our staff, creating two whole new rooms and an extra table for our children’s Counsellor. The space here needs to be nice; it needs to be a nice place women want to visit. We need that to lift the women when they come through the doors,” Ms Ritter said.

The 2018 MAX Employment Christmas Campaign focused on regional organisations that provide support to people with disability. At the conclusion of the campaign over $100,000 was raised for 70 organisations and more than 13,000 people had found work.
