When you connect with MAX, you will have a team of professionals alongside you as you journey into meaningful and sustainable employment. You will also have access to a wide network of employers across the country.
How jobactive works
Eligibility for jobactive
If you are currently receiving the JobSeeker Payment, you may be eligible to receive a range of employment services from MAX.
In many cases, you will need to be referred to MAX by Centrelink (Services Australia). We offer jobactive services in many locations across the country. Head into your local Centrelink office to register and ask to be referred to your local MAX office.

Talk with us
Once you have registered with MAX, you will be invited to chat with one of our staff.
During this meeting, we will start to get to know you, your current situation, skills and experience and any challenges you might be facing.
We will work with you to identify your employment goals and the tools, resources and possible training that will help you to achieve these goals. We will discuss the types of work available in your local area and how we can best assist you to get the type of job you are looking for.
Together with you, we will create a personalised Job Plan designed to set you on the path towards your employment goals.
Prepare for work
As you prepare for work, we will assist you in a variety of ways. It is our goal to provide you with the things you need to achieve your employment goals.
This may include providing:
- Advice on time management, workplace expectations and routines
- Access to computers, the internet and free wifi
- Transport advice and assistance
- Simple ways to record your attendance
- Appointment reminders
- Mentoring and motivation
- Access to relevant education and training courses
- Work experience, internship and volunteering opportunities.
- Job search skills.
In addition we will ensure you can access the services you need to overcome other challenges you may be facing. This might include homelessness, addiction and managing health issues.
Apply for jobs
We will help you apply for jobs. You will have the chance to see local and national job opportunities in real time on smart screens at our offices. Our team understands your local labour market and can connect you with great opportunities with respected employers.
As you apply for jobs, we will continue to walk with you through the process. This might include:
- Developing your interview skills through mock interviews
- Assisting you as you prepare your resume and job applications.
By registering with MAXConnect and completing your personal My Job Fit profile you will automatically be matched to jobs that fit your skillset. You can also have job alerts sent directly to your email or phone.
Supporting you in your new job
We want you to ensure you are given the opportunity to shine in your new role.
We will stay in regular contact via phone, online or workplace visits to help you perform at your best. We can discuss any issues that might arise with your new employer and together work to overcome any challenges such as communication, managing expectations, teamwork and feedback.
You may also be able to access specialised workplace support from our team of health professionals along with things like transport, licences, work clothing and safety gear.
The MAXAssist App is also available with helpful resources if you are feeling overwhelmed.
