The way we work is changing. As a result, the way we apply for jobs is changing too. Employability skills training is designed to give you the skills to meet the demands of modern job searching and open doors to your next employment opportunity.
What is Employability skills training?
The Employability Skills training program has been designed to prepare those looking for work to better understand the expectations of employers in the current job market.
This program has two courses that build both more generalised skills to find work as well as specific skills that relate to your chosen industry.
You can take both of these courses in a full-time or part-time capacity either face-to-face or a hybrid model with some aspects done online.
The full-time course is 25 hours per week for three weeks while the part-time course is 15 hours per week for 5 weeks.
You can choose to participate in one or both programs depending on the skills you need to develop to secure ongoing work.
What will I learn in Employability skills training?
The program is separated into two courses both of which you can enrol in.
Block one – this program is designed to give you the workplace skills needed to thrive in your chosen field and includes things like:
Understanding and using technology.
Gives you the opportunity to explore different industries.
Block two – this program includes both advanced job searching and interview skills as well as career development specific to your chosen field and include:
Resume writing specifically to your industry of interest.
Interview skills and preparation.
Job preparedness and job search skills for your industry.
Industry-specific training and awareness of career types and progression as well as being able to present you to employers who have work trial opportunities.
How does an Employability Skills training coach help?
An employability skills training coach will first discuss with you your needs and interests to tailor your training programs to your specific goals.
From there they will work with you to develop attainable and relevant career development goals for you to work towards.
They will then guide you in one or both training programs to get you confident in your skills and ready to join or re-join the workforce.
Through their relationships with local employers and community organisations, they will work to help you find work trial opportunities that fit your skill sets and job interests to kick start your career in a supported way.
