Get your project off the ground
If you are a not for profit organisation or a local/state/territory government agency, you can become a Work for the Dole host.
As a host, you can help our customers gain the skills, experience and confidence they need by inviting them to help you with project based work in the community.
By becoming a host, the Government is able to offset the cost of the project meaning you are able to complete activities that you might not have the resources or opportunity to complete.
How it works
What types of activities?
People taking part in Work for the Dole are able to do a number of tasks. However, these tasks can’t replace the work of a paid employee. They might do:
- Gardening or maintenance
- Computer graphics work
- Animal or wildlife shelter activities
- Retail work
- Rehabilitation of public parks
- Office administration
- Warehouse duties.
Whilst doing these activities with you, they will continue to receive assistance from us as their employment provider.
What does a host need to do?
As a host, there are some things you should consider before signing up as you will need to provide:
Supervision and monitoring attendance
Activities that meet work health and safety requirements
Necessary training, although we will work closely with you to make sure the needs of the activity are met before it starts.
