The MAX Foundation has chosen four charities across Australia to receive $10,000 each to support their work in the community: Top Blokes, Cana Communities Inc, Open Haven, and Wounded Heroes.

Top Blokes Foundation works to improve young male health and well-being.

They work with groups of boys and young men over 3 to 6 months to increase their resilience, empathy, and respect for self and others, and in doing so work to reduce the rates of suicides, mental health issues, antisocial and risk-taking behaviours.

For 48 years Cana's core mission has been to provide care and support to the most vulnerable members of society.

The grant will be used to provide art therapy to homeless women who are living in Cana’s women's shelter in the inner city of Sydney.

Cana's values align with those of MAX as we too seek to deliver life changing opportunities for individuals.

Open Haven supports victims of domestic and family violence increase independence to integrate back into the community post-violence, including developing their capacity to reengage into the workforce.

They provide people recovering from domestic and family violence with information and referrals to services to increase their capacity in accessing housing, employment, mental health support, legal support, and other areas that aid their health and wellbeing.

Wounded Heroes provides crisis intervention for veterans and their families.

They provide emergency interventions such as food vouchers, pay utilities, find emergency accommodation, find mental health supports including hospitalisation, pay for fuel, and more in an effort to provide temporary stability whilst the veteran finds stability.

These interventions often include suicide and they are on call 24/7 to provide support.

The MAX Foundation makes regular donations to worthwhile causes, with employee contributions matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. MAX Country Manager Darren Hooper said:

“With the cost-of-living crisis compounding the pressures of daily life, services such as those provided by these charities are in demand and often the only source of relief for some.

“A desire to help people is one of the main reasons why people come to work at MAX and as an organisation, giving every person every chance is central to our work.

“The MAX Foundation is driven by its members and the causes they are passionate about. We are pleased to be able to support these organisations continue their vital work and to help people who depend on their services.”
