We are dedicated to delivering quality services to all clients, we recognise the unique and often complex needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers and students who are referred for services.
We acknowledge the Australian Government’s Closing the Gap initiative and strive to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers by effectively engaging them in employment, education, and training to improve their chances of ongoing employment success.
We provide employment, health and training services to Indigenous Australian communities in over 110 locations working in close partnership with over 60 Indigenous Australian Communities.
Community Development Programme (CDP)
The Community Development Programme (CDP) was created by the Australian Government to increase the employment and training opportunities for Australians living in remote areas. The program is for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous job seekers in remote Australia.
CDP has four aims:
- To help job seekers find employment
- To give young people suitable skills for work
- To encourage community participation amongst people not in work
- To build stronger communities.
Vocational Training and Employment Centres (VTEC)
We provide training and guaranteed job outcomes for Indigenous Australians through our VTEC services in a number of locations around Australia. These services are offered in Kalgoorlie and the eastern regions of Western Australia, and South West Queensland and Darling Downs West (Maranoa) which includes Chinchilla, Miles, Roma, Charleville and Cunnamulla, inclusive of smaller outreach areas within the region.
As a VTEC provider, we connect Indigenous job seekers and school leavers with guaranteed jobs and bring together support services necessary to prepare job seekers for employment.
The guarantee of a job before job-specific training starts is the key feature of VTECs. It ensures:
- Job specific training is directly related to available jobs
- Employers can recruit Indigenous job seekers with the right skills
- Job seekers can opt into available jobs
- The commitment of job seekers is rewarded with guaranteed employment
Jobs, Land and Economy Programme (JLEP)
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships Programme is an Australian Government initiative under the Jobs, Land and Economy Programme (JLEP).
We connect MAX Employment Indigenous mentors to local schools to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander year 11 and 12 students. Students select the vocation they want to pursue and the mentor will link them with a registered training organisation and employer.
Participating students attend school four days per week and one day in paid employment - working toward a vocational certificate.
